Read the leaderboards

Goal: see where you stand and what to do to climb.

  1. Scroll to the Leaderboards section at the bottom of the page. The header shows the season and the town milestone.
  2. Read the line under it: “You rank #N of M for finest homestead.” M counts you, the simulated neighbors who have arrived so far, and any real players who share scores.
  3. Click a tab to switch boards. Your row is highlighted. The table shows the top eight, and your row is added underneath if you rank lower.

What each board counts:

Board What it measures
Finest homestead Appraised value of standing timber, roads, fields, buildings, sawmill and businesses
Timber baron Lumber produced from your own timber (the same counter as the deed)
Best forester Percent of the claim still in timber, plus 2 per old growth parcel, plus 3 per replanted parcel
Top sawyer Lumber your own sawmill has milled
Fair champion Best axe score plus best saw score
Merchant of the year Lumber earned by your businesses

You may rank first on Finest homestead right after filing a claim. Standing timber alone is appraised, with no deed needed, so the board starts high and then drops as you cut.

Neighbors are simulated. Their scores grow with time, and they appear as the town fills. Players shown with a player tag only appear when the game can save to a shared account store. The standalone page does not do that, so you only see neighbors.

Top sawyer counts all lumber milled, including neighbors’ logs you bought. Timber baron does not.

Rules and numbers: leaderboards.

The leaderboards in the shared valley differ from the practice claim’s:

  • They update every ten minutes, when the town ticks, for everyone. Your own row shows your exact figure as of the last tick, so it can be behind your claim, and the row says so.
  • Other players’ figures are rounded. The Finest homestead board shows the claim as the map shows it (every stand at one growth speed, old growth counted as mature) rounded to the nearest 1,500. Timber baron and Top sawyer round to the nearest 6,200 and Merchant of the year to the nearest 3,000. Best forester shows the map’s figure, which leaves out old growth and is not rounded, and every such figure is marked “about”. The Fair champion board shows exact figures. Your own row shows your true, exact figure, and beside it the figure other players see for you, which is what your rank is made from; the two can differ.
  • Ranks can be shared. Players whose shown figures match share a rank, written “=2”, and the line under the heading says how many share yours. The order inside a shared rank is not meaningful and changes every tick.
  • The era bar shows no lumber figure. In the valley the era bar says “Lumber goal 60,000, not shown”, with no figure and no sign of whether it has been reached, because anything shown there could be worked back into what the other players have made. The era change itself is announced. Settlers, businesses and roads are exact counts.
  • A few things still show a little. The number of players in the town drops by one three days after a member’s last action. The Mercantile’s crop stock moves by the size of each sale, so a sale shows as a step in the shelf. The roads count goes up by one at the tick a neighbor builds a road. A mill’s yard stock moves by the size of each delivery, so a delivery shows as a step. And the era change is announced.
  • If you run a sawmill, other players can work out its level and the species you saw from the Top sawyer and Timber boards within a few days of watching, even rounded. The boards show nothing else about the mill.
  • If you joined this tick, you see your own row at once, and everyone else sees you from the next tick.
  • Simulated settlers are listed below the players and are not ranked.

The rounding is deliberate: exact figures would let a neighbor work out what you cut and what your loads paid.
