Sell produce at the Mercantile

Goal: turn harvested crops into lumber at a good price.

  1. Harvest a crop (see start farming). Produce you hold shows as a button inside the matching crop row of the Harrison Mercantile panel, for example “Sell 8 sacks, ~418 bd ft”.
  2. Read each crop’s price in the panel and the bar that says “Shelves 20% full”. The price runs from 0.45 times to 1.45 times the base price. Empty shelves pay the most.
  3. Decide whether to wait. Settlers eat from the shelves, and other farmers add to them, so prices drift.
  4. Click Sell. All the produce of that crop is sold in one go at a price taken from the middle of your load. The lumber arrives straight away and the ledger reads “Sold 8 sacks of wheat to the Mercantile at 55 each, less freight.”

Freight takes 5% of the sale, or 2.5% if you own a teamster stable.

In one test, 8 sacks of wheat were worth about 418 bd ft at 20% shelves.

A big sale fills the shelves and drops the price on whatever you sell next, and you cannot split a load. Harvest in small batches if you care about price.

The estimate in the button is approximate. Freight comes off the final figure.

The Mercantile is run by the town. You cannot set prices or sell to other players.

Farm income is not production for the deed.
